Aston Villa fans have been heaping praise on Wesley, after the Brazilian earned his first international call up.

The 22-year-old will replace injured Ajax forward David Neres and will fly out to South America with Villa teammate Douglas Luiz – already named in Brazil manager, Tite’s squad – next week.

It is reward for Wesley’s early season form that has already seen him net four times in his opening 11 games in the Premier League.

Wesley of Aston Villa celebrates

The forward will once again lead the line for Dean Smith against Wolves at Molinuex on Sunday.

He has been asked to lead the line alone during his first season in the Premier League with Villa short of back up options following injuries to Jonathan Kodjia and Keinan Davies.

Villa fans across social media have been quick to praise Wesley, whilst also hoping it could give him an extra edge at Molineux later today:

@TheFace34: Just shows you what can happen when you score 4 and assist 1 in 11 appearances in one of the best leagues in the world … are the haters still gonna complain, you bet ya

@TheVillaHome: Pleased for Wesley to get his first full Brazilian call up. Thought he worked tirelessly last weekend against Liverpool. He may not be the glitz and glam Brazilian forward, but I kinda like him. He’s still young, raw, and hoping he succeeds at club and international level

@BarlowinBrazil: Aston Villa has two players called up to the Brazil squad. You wait all your life for your club to sign a Brazilian, then two come at once and then get called up for the national team.

@GaryPoole80: I am so happy for Wesley for his 1st team international call up for Brazil. He has worked hard and deserves the recognition

@NickRedV: Congrats!! Hopefully the perfect confidence booster

@Ibrahimbs2511: Go on wesley score tomorow and show the brazil team u deserve to start.

@10Grealish: Going to play like the second coming of Ronaldo today. I have faith.

@Chefpwaring: Who would of thought we’d have two Brazilian internationals in the squad this time last season when we were mid table in the championship!

@HarryFa26: We’ve been using him wrong anyway. Can’t wait to see what Brazil get out of him  congrats Wes.
